With my reliable Supervisor, Prof. Miguel Palma. He is professor of the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Cadiz, Spain. His research interests include food analytical methods, food science, functional foods and bioactive compounds in foods.
I owe my deepest thanks to him for his most generous support, valuable advices and suggestions thus guided me to achieve productive researches. He also provided consideration and personal encouragement like an attentive parent. I will certainly return this debt to him by remembering and following his teachings.
With Emeritus Prof. Zdzisław Edmund Sikorski, an autor and editor of numerous books published by CRC Press. He was the dean of Chemical Faculty, Gdansk University of Technology, Poland.
Prof. Sikorski has an important role in my career development. Had it not been for him, I would not have received my PhD scholarship since he performed as a very reliable referee. Additionally, he always encourage me to be more advance in scientific writing.
There is a statement by Alexandr Solshenitsyn that he cited and this will be kept in my mind:
When a great opportunity comes and knocks on the door,
it’s first tap may be no louder than the beating of one’s heart
and only a sensitive ear can detect it.
Dzikuje Bardzo Professor!!
With Prof. Bogdan Zygmunt, who was taking care of me during my studies since 5 years ago as a program coordinator of EMQAL project at Gdansk University of Technology (GUT).
He is a great teacher thus was awarded many times by Rectors of GUT and once by Ministry of Research and Higher Education, Poland. It was a great honour for having him as one of the juries on my master thesis defense.
He has helped me also to complete the requirements in order to obtain an international mentioned on my PhD diploma later on by inviting me to GUT. Therefore, I owe a debt of gratitude for his most kind support towards me.
With the most influential figure of Gdansk University of Technology, Professor Jacek Namiesnik, who is the Dean of Chemical Faculty and the Professor of Analytical Chemistry. He is the Chairman of the committee of analytical chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) and also the member of the State Commission for evaluation of scientific degrees and titles.
Thank you very much for providing me the opportunity to perform my research stay at your department. I value the experiences that I have obtained.
A very young but possess a lot of experiences, Dr. Tomasz Dymerski, is the head of the laboratory where I conducted my research stay at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Gdansk University of Technology, Poland. Due to his highly impact on research development as well as international collaboration networks, he won numerous prestigious research grants. It was my great opportunity to learn a new analytical method utilising HS-SPME/GC×GC-TOFMS under his supervision. Not only being a supportive boss, Dr. Dymerski is also a delightful friend. Hence, I gained a lot of fun working in his lab.
Summer time is the busiest season of my research group since we have to prepare the vintage. At this time, a number of students are also coming from abroad (mainly from Brazil, Argentina and Mexico) to conduct their internship at our institute, Centro Andaluz de Investigaciones Vitivinícolas (CAIV). Established in March 1999, this institute is linked to the University of Cadiz and the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Science of the Junta de Andalucía. Our research topics include new technologies in viticulture, wine microbiology, biotechnology in the fermenting process, study of quality indicators used in processes, development of new viticultural products, etc. However, in couple of years ago, CAIV includes also researches related to food products other than grape nor wine thus changed into Centro Andaluz de Investigaciones Vitivinícolas y Agroalimentación (CAIVA). Henceforth, my doctoral research about rice is also welcome to perform at labs in CAIVA.
A visit guided by Dr. Thomas Andlid to a laboratory that is fully equipped with analytical instruments at the Department of Food and Nutrition Science, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. Dr. Andlid leads the group of Food Microbiology-Biotechnology and his main research focuses on yeasts, bifidobacteria and lactic acid bacteria as production organisms. Additionally, as a Director of Graduate Studies of Bioscience, he represents the Graduate School in the Chalmers Committee for Graduate Education. I am really pleased to received a warm welcome and an opportunity to contribute as a lecturer for the International Master Course of Food Biotechnology coordinated by him. Tack så mycket!
